Artist in Residence at Southcombe Barn Dartmoor

A Garden Still Life

These works represent a year spent as artist in residence at Southcombe Barn on Dartmoor.  Using the technique known as Nature Printing plants were initially pressed between boards and later printed onto heavy weight paper using an inked substrate and working with a printing press. Composed as the subjects of a Still Life the placement of the plant on the paper is intentional and allludes to formality rather than the picuresque.  Exhibited at the end of the residency in A Garden Still Life at Southcombe Barn Gallery in 2023 along with many drawings made en plein air and a series of sculptural pod shapes made in plaster.
